Who we are

We wear what we live

Afternoon Farmer is a lifestyle brand that works because we live the lifestyle.

The phrases, the frustrations and the exhausted joy of farming on these shirts all come from the field. Most of them were muttered at a stuck gate, a busted fence post or a goat with other plans. We just wrote them down.

The name

It used to be an insult

Back in the day, an afternoon farmer was the one who slept in and put off the work until after lunch. Not a compliment.

For us, it's a point of pride. When the workday ends and the laptops close, we lace up our boots and head out to tackle the next thing on the farm list. We're not late. We're on the second shift.

The idea for Afternoon Farmer was born in the fields.
It came to life on lunch breaks.

Our story

From South Florida to the Shenandoah Valley

Afternoon Farmer's creator, Andrew Pignato, is a graphic designer who sold his home in South Florida to rebuild a homestead in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with his wife and son.

That first year, they had no idea how to run a tractor, let alone the tools, the implements and the elbow grease it would take to bring old land back to life. And all of it happened before, after and sometimes in between the workday, as a designer for a national company and running his own freelance studio.

The movement

Starting from scratch

Somewhere between the two jobs and the chores, Andrew noticed a growing number of people who want the freedom that comes with farming, and who know it takes a day job to make that dream work.

The farmers who once fed America are fewer with every generation. But there's a growing movement of families taking a bold step of faith to start from scratch. We are that family.

We believe in families who want a better life, and in the extra hours past the 8-hour day it takes to build one. And we tip our hats to the full-time farmers who do it around the clock. They're the inspiration.

Farmer is a job description, not an acreage requirement.

You've got questions?

We have honest answers.

How are the shirts made?

Each piece is printed to order by our print partner after you order it. Nothing sits in a warehouse, so nothing goes to waste.

How long does shipping take?

Printing takes a few business days, then it ships. Most orders arrive in 1 to 2 weeks total. We ship within the US only for now.

How do the shirts fit?

Our tees are soft, unisex heather tees with a regular fit. If you're between sizes, size up. Every product page has a size chart.

What if it doesn't fit?

You get one free size swap. Mail the shirt back unworn and send us the tracking number, and we'll ship the new size on us. See the full return policy.

What if my order shows up wrong or damaged?

Send us a photo within 30 days and we'll make it right with a replacement. Contact us.

How do I wash it?

Wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Skip the iron on the print. It'll keep looking good long after the jeans give out.

Do I have to be a real farmer to wear one?

If you've got chores waiting after work, you qualify. Three goats count. So does a backyard flock. Farmer is a job description, not an acreage requirement.
